MGMA asks Congress to extend the moratorium on Medicare sequestration cuts

WASHINGTON, DC – The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) is urging Congress to extend the moratorium on Medicare sequestration cuts until the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Medicare sequestration relief provided in the CARES Act is currently set to expire Dec. 31, 2020.

“Sequestration is a tax that penalizes medical practices for Congress’ inability to meaningfully address the country’s budgetary affairs,” said Anders Gilberg, Senior Vice President, MGMA Government Affairs. “Congress should, at a minimum, extend its recent moratorium to provide critical relief needed to allow medical group practices to remain viable and focus on patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
