Implementing the No Surprises Act

The federal regulation of certain surprise medical bills went into effect on Jan. 1, 2022. These new protections regulate certain provider balance billing and create new pathways for patients to better understand the cost of services. Over the last two years, the No Surprises Act (NSA) has been challenged in court, causing several aspects of the Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process and the Qualifying Payment Amount (QPA) to remain in flux.
